Approach
The purpose of this project is to explore how structured design and collaborative improvisation can coexist within a single physical form. By using LEGOs as a modular, reusable material, the sculpture investigates how objects begin to take shape through both planned systems (grid, symmetry, rules) and spontaneous, participant-driven input (clusters, radial, emotional building). The project encourages reflection on authorship, emergence, and perception, showing that meaningful design doesn’t just come from control—it also arises from letting go.

Relation to MAD 10
The grid elements in the sculpture reflect structured, rule-based thinking—showing quiddity through repetition and balance. Clusters and radial forms emerge from participant contributions, expressing haecceity through emotional, instinctive building. Linear chains create flow and connection, bridging structured and unstructured areas. Centralized forms act as focal points, drawing attention and anchoring the spatial experience. Together, these systems blend into a unified structure that captures the tension and harmony between control and collaboration.
the sculpture evolves beyond its original structure through open, collaborative input. What begins as a grounded, intentional base expands as participants add their unique, unplanned touches—transforming the piece into something richer and more expressive. Creativity becomes the force that pushes the design outward, not just physically with bricks, but conceptually through varied spatial patterns like clusters, lines, and radial bursts.
